Windows Server 2012 Product Key Activation[R2 Standard/Datacenter/Essentials/Crack serial number. To change the product key of Windows Server 2012. Windows Server 2012 R2 Overview. With Windows Server 2012 R2, Microsoft delivers a server platform built on our experience of building and operating many of the world's largest cloud-based services and datacenter. For VM instalation I used *.ISO from Microsoft Website, not the DVD that came with next to the server. Thanks for income. Hello, I got a Windows Server 2012 Datacenter Retail key, and I was wondering how I should activate my virtual machines in order to have them recognize that they are in fact, virtual machines and that I should get unlimited activations. From what I've, (see Shane Cribbs' reply) I think you're supposed to get a separate product key for physical activations and another one for VM activations if you have a retail key. However, being a student, I got my key through DreamSpark, and they only gave me the one retail key. Is there any way I can activate my virtual machines in this scenario, or am I doomed to be VM-less? Sorry, I got caught up in school work and I couldn't reply in a timely manner. Basically, I called them, and after being transferred from department to department, I actually reached the DreamSpark department, where the representative basically told me that DreamSpark subscribers only get a single activation per product key, and that we would not be getting a separate key for VMs. I don't think the part about having only a single activation is true though, because, as far as I know, these are generic retail keys, and retail keys get 10 activations. But as far as I can tell, we will not be getting a separate key for VMs, unfortunately. I don't know about TechNet unfortunately. I actually reached that department, but as soon as I mentioned DreamSpark, they transferred me somewhere else. But, according to, you should be able to use the host's key to activate your VMs. Stumbled across this thread while I was having the same problem with Server 2012 R2 Datacenter. I had the same problem, where the Dreamspark key would not activate my VMs. To fix this, I used the Automatic Virtual Machine Activation (AVMA) keys provided here: The AVMA keys listed there for Server 2012 R2 are: Datacenter - Y4TGP-NPTV9-HTC2H-7MGQ3-DV4TW Standard - DBGBW-NPF86-BJVTX-K3WKJ-MTB6V Essentials - K2XGM-NMBT3-2R6Q8-WF2FK-P36R2 I put in the Datacenter AVMA key and my VM is now activated. This won't help for anyone using Server 2012, but I'm putting it here to help out any other R2 users.
